On our recent trip to California we got to go to the Monterey Bay Acquarium. They have some really outstanding jelly fish exhibits. The first picture is of Katie and Ella standing in front of the big beautiful jellies.
The moon jellies have little phosphorescent bits that flash and light up.
I don't remember what these guys are called but they look really cool.
As I was choosing which pictures to put in this post, Ella saw this picture of a big school of sardines and said, "I really liked that class of sardines!" Indeed, they were very cool. They came racing by the glass and it was just a huge blur of silvery flashes of light. No wonder they travel in schools, it makes it very hard for predators to pick out an individual fish to target. This "Outer Bay" tank is enormous and it makes for some really good interactions. At one point a hammerhead shark thought it would try to go after a sardine but they just scattered in a blur.
